For a number of years now I’ve been working with leaders to create a work environment based on these three core success factors for change….
💬 Communicate 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆
❤ Focus on increasing 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁
🙌 Promote 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸
Transparent communication doesn’t mean sharing sensitive information or sharing information that simply isn’t ready to be shared, it means carefully considering what information can and should be shared with staff at the right time, via the right communication channels and delivered in the right way.
𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘁… can you imagine fearing the unknown impacts, making assumptions about what it might mean for you and thinking of the worst outcome?
Transparent communication isn’t one-way, it’s crucial to create space for dialogue, allowing feedback such as questions, concerns and ideas to flow freely across the organisation. This enables staff to validate their assumptions about the change’s impact and feel empowered to be part of the change, rather than letting it happen to them.
